Collection: Moomin by Arabia

Moomin by Arabia – Moomin Mugs and Tableware from Finland

For many, Arabia's Moomin mugs are an introduction to the Moomin world – and for some, the start of a collection. Made of Vitroporcelain, they bring Tove Jansson's characters into everyday life: for morning coffee, afternoon tea, or as a gift. From the extensive Moomin by Arabia range, I have selected the series that I like best.

A Mug for Every Character

Moomin, Snorkmaiden, Moominmamma, Moominpappa, Little My, Snorkmaiden and Sniff – almost every character has its own mug in its typical color. There are also themed mugs such as Family Time, Loving Care, House, Ancestor, as well as the larger 0.4 l mugs Boss Lady, Rebel Club, Party Queue and Talk it all out.

Bowls, Plates and Jugs

Many mugs have a matching bowl with a diameter of 15 cm. The Haru series in cream-white and blue includes mugs, plates and bowls in several sizes. The "House" and "Afternoon in the Living Room" jugs complete the table.

Sweethearts, Gift of Love and the Mini Figures

2026 is all about love at Moomin by Arabia: The Sweethearts series brings mugs and trays in lilac, Gift of Love is the festive series for the Christmas season – with the 2026 Christmas bauble. The mini figures from Moomin to Too-ticky are also new.

Why I Don't Have Moomin Bedding

For me, Arabia is primarily porcelain. I am not convinced by the current designs for bedding and towels. What's more: the pillowcases measure 50 × 60 cm instead of the 80 × 80 cm usual in Germany – the decoration really has to be truly appealing for that to be worth it. Oh, what times that was when Finlayson had the license for Moomin textiles. I still have the wool blanket and bath towel from the Sweethearts series – only while stocks last. That is why you will find Moomins for the sofa and bed from a textile specialist: Klippan Yllefabrik from Sweden makes wool blankets and seat cushions with Moomin motifs.

You can find the latest series in the Moomin New Arrivals, all Moomin brands in the Moomins category. You can read more about Tove Jansson and her characters in my post The Moomins, Festive in Christmas in Moominvalley.

What distinguishes Vitroporcelain and Bone China, I explain in my guide Porcelain is Not All the Same.

How the mugs came about and why they are cult classics in Finland, I tell in my post The Moomin Mugs by Arabia.
