    • Scandinavia Tip: The Moomins are a cult phenomenon in Finland. In Finland, there is the large Moomin World near Turku in the town of Naantali. Moomin Shops can be found in Helsinki and other cities. This Finnish cult figure, with its sweet and funny animated films, is only known to insiders in Germany. Occasionally, some films are rerun on television. Tove (Marika) Jansson published the first Moomin stories in 1953, inspired by Tolkien and Carroll. The Moomins became world-famous through the Japanese animated series. The Moomins/Mumins are small, hippopotamus-like trolls who live peacefully with their friends. The main characters are Snork, Snorkmaiden, Little My, Snufkin and many others. Together they experience a lot of fun and adventure. The vagabonds Stinky and Morra ensure that it's never boring.
