Snorkmaiden – romantic, confident, and a little vain

Snorkmaiden is one of the best-known characters in the Moomin world. She is Moomintroll's girlfriend and playmate and has a character all her own: lovely and sensitive, sometimes a little vain, and definitely likes being the center of attention.

The purple motif on this mug is based on Tove Jansson's comic strip “Moomin on the Riviera” from 1955. The story takes the Moomins to the French Riviera, where Snorkmaiden gets acquainted with the glamorous world of the rich and beautiful.

Snorkmaiden on the Riviera

In the motif, Snorkmaiden discovers the beautiful things in life. Among other things, she tries out her first lipstick and a bikini. At first, she likes both – but in the end, she realizes that these things don't really suit her.

It is precisely this little story that fits her personality wonderfully. Snorkmaiden is romantic, fashion-conscious, and sometimes a bit fickle, but always remains a likeable character.

The classic Arabia form

The Moomin mug is based on the timeless shape of Kaj Franck's Teema series. The clear, functional design gives the illustrations plenty of space and at the same time makes the mug an uncomplicated companion for everyday life.

With 0.3 liters, it offers a practical size for coffee, tea, cocoa, or other favorite drinks.

Vitrified porcelain – robust for everyday use

The mug is made of vitrified porcelain and is designed for daily use. It is dishwasher-safe as well as suitable for the microwave, oven, and freezer.

My assessment

For me, the purple Snorkmaiden mug is one of the particularly beautiful Moomin character mugs. The color is soft and feminine without appearing kitschy and suits Snorkmaiden's personality very well.

I particularly like the fact that Arabia hasn't just put a pretty picture on the mug. The motif actually tells you something about the character. If you like Snorkmaiden, you get a mug that captures her personality very beautifully and can also be used every day without any problems.
