Gift of Love – Moomintroll and the Golden Tail

The illustrations in the Gift of Love collection are primarily based on Tove Jansson's 1958 comic "Moomin and the Golden Tail." In it, Moomintroll suddenly grows a golden, shiny tail tuft—and with it comes attention, admirers, and invitations to fancy parties.

Further scenes are taken from the comics "Moomin's Winter Follies" and "Moomin Begins a New Life." The message of the collection is classic Moominvalley: You don't need a special occasion to celebrate—time spent with family and friends is reason enough.

A platter for sharing

Moomin Arabia designed this serving platter specifically for shared moments: it is large enough for more than one person to enjoy. A cake for the coffee table, a colorful plate of Christmas cookies, or a cheese selection for the evening fit perfectly on it.

The illustration shows the Moomins in a festive mood—in green and golden yellow on a light background. Once the platter is empty, the entire scene is revealed again.

Serve, bake, store

Because the platter is made of vitro porcelain and is oven-safe, it can be used for more than just serving. Shallow oven dishes, gratinated vegetables, or puff pastry can be prepared on it and placed directly on the table.

Leftovers can be stored on the platter in the refrigerator or frozen—and reheated in the microwave.

Gift of Love – the festive finale of the 2026 Year of Love

In 2026, Moomin Arabia celebrates the 30th anniversary of the well-known Moomin Love mug and is dedicating an entire year to the theme of love. Alongside Sweethearts and Loving Care, Gift of Love forms the festive conclusion to this anniversary year.

A special feature: In 2026, Gift of Love replaces the traditional winter seasonal collection. The color palette of dark green, mustard yellow, and beige with small red accents fits wonderfully with the Christmas season, but does not appear too seasonal beyond that.

Care instructions

The serving platter is dishwasher safe as well as microwave, oven, and freezer safe.

My assessment

To me, the serving platter is one of the most versatile pieces in the Gift of Love collection. It works just as well as a cake platter in the afternoon as it does as a platter for finger food in the evening.

At 24 x 32 cm, it is large enough for a table full of guests, yet still easy to handle. And on such a large surface, the festive illustration gets significantly more room than on a mug.

Anyone who enjoys hosting guests for Christmas or birthdays will surely be taking this platter out of the cupboard more than once a year.
