The Moomin 2026 annual ball

Every year, Moomin Arabia releases a unique annual ball – for many Moomin fans, it has become an essential part of the Christmas season. Those who collect them year after year eventually have a small Moomin chronicle hanging on their tree.

The 2026 ball belongs to the Gift of Love collection. Its illustration depicts a joyous celebration – in true Moominvalley spirit, where, according to Moomin Arabia, even the smallest and silliest successes deserve to be celebrated.

Gift of Love – Moomintroll and the Golden Tail

The illustrations in the Gift of Love collection are primarily based on Tove Jansson's 1958 comic "Moomin and the Golden Tail." In it, Moomintroll suddenly gets a golden-shining tail tuft – and with it, attention, admirers, and invitations to fine parties.

Other scenes are taken from the comics "Moomin's Winter Follies" and "Moomin Begins a New Life." The message of the collection is typical of Moominvalley: you don't need a special occasion to celebrate – time spent with family and friends is reason enough.

Porcelain instead of glass

Like the Moomin mugs, the annual ball is made of vitro porcelain. As a result, the illustration in green and yellow on a light background looks almost like a small piece of Moomin tableware on the tree.

With a diameter of 8 cm, the ball is large enough to stand out on the Christmas tree. The red ribbon matches the collection's red accents and classic Christmas decor.

Beautifully packaged for gifting

The ball is delivered in a gift box with a viewing window. This makes it ready to be gifted immediately – and stored safely away after Christmas.

Gift of Love – the festive finale of the 2026 Year of Love

In 2026, Moomin Arabia celebrates the 30th anniversary of the well-known Moomin Love mug and dedicates an entire year to the theme of love. Alongside Sweethearts and Loving Care, Gift of Love forms the festive conclusion to this anniversary year.

A special feature: in 2026, Gift of Love replaces the traditional winter seasonal collection. This makes the 2026 annual ball part of this special anniversary collection as well.

Care instructions

Wipe the ball with a damp cloth if necessary.

Tip: Porcelain is heavier than a glass bauble. Therefore, hang the ball on a sufficiently sturdy branch.

My assessment

For me, the annual ball is one of the most beautiful collectibles from Moomin Arabia because it plays a special role for one season every year – and then waits in its box until the next Advent.

The 2026 ball is special: it comes from the Love anniversary year and from the first season in which Gift of Love replaces the classic winter collection.

A lovely gift for anyone who already collects Moomin balls – and a great start for anyone looking to begin.
