Gift of Love – Moomintroll and the Golden Tail

The illustrations in the Gift of Love collection are primarily based on Tove Jansson's 1958 comic "Moomin and the Golden Tail." In it, Moomintroll suddenly grows a golden, shimmering tuft on his tail – and with it comes attention, admirers, and invitations to fancy parties.

Other scenes are taken from the comics "Moomin's Winter Follies" and "Moomin Begins a New Life." The message of the collection is quintessential Moominvalley: you don't need a special occasion to celebrate – spending time together with family and friends is reason enough.

The festive table in Moominvalley

The tablecloth features the Moomins in a joyful, celebratory mood as an all-over pattern on a dark green background. This turns the entire dining table into a stage for the Gift of Love collection.

Combined with mugs, bowls, the serving platter, or the oven dish from the same collection, you create a cohesive table setting – perfect for Christmas Eve, an Advent breakfast, or a birthday.

140 x 250 cm – for the large table

With a length of 250 cm, the tablecloth is intended for an extended dining table that seats the whole family. Depending on the table size, it will drape beautifully over the edges.

Undyed organic cotton with GOTS certificate

The tablecloth is made from undyed organic cotton. It is certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which takes ecological and social criteria into account along the entire supply chain.

According to Moomin Arabia, the fabric and pattern make this tablecloth suitable not only for the holidays but for festive tables all year round.

Gift of Love – the festive finale of the Year of Love 2026

In 2026, Moomin Arabia celebrates the 30th anniversary of the well-known Moomin Love mug and dedicates an entire year to the theme of love. Alongside Sweethearts and Loving Care, Gift of Love forms the festive conclusion to this anniversary year.

A special feature: In 2026, Gift of Love replaces the traditional winter seasonal collection. The color palette of dark green, mustard yellow, and beige with small red accents fits perfectly with the Christmas season, but does not look too seasonal beyond that.

Care instructions

The tablecloth can be machine washed at 40 °C. Moomin Arabia recommends washing it before first use.

Important: Cotton may shrink slightly when washed – according to the manufacturer, by up to 5%.

My assessment

A tablecloth transforms a room more than almost any other accessory. With the dark green and the Moomin pattern, an ordinary dining table immediately becomes a festive one.

I like that Moomin Arabia uses undyed, GOTS-certified organic cotton here. Especially for a large textile that is washed regularly, this is an important point for me.

Anyone who likes to gather many people around a table at Christmas will find here the piece that brings the entire Gift of Love collection together.
