Gift of Love – Moomintroll and the Golden Tail

The illustrations in the Gift of Love collection are primarily based on Tove Jansson's 1958 comic "Moomin and the Golden Tail." In it, Moomintroll suddenly grows a golden, shimmering tail tuft – and with it comes attention, admirers, and invitations to elegant parties.

Other scenes are taken from the comics "Moomin's Winter Follies" and "Moomin Begins a New Life." The message of the collection is typical Moominvalley: you don't need a special occasion to celebrate – time spent with family and friends is reason enough.

Start by lighting a candle

Moomin Arabia has formulated a lovely thought for this candle: if you want to celebrate something, the best way to start is by lighting a candle – and creating a beautiful atmosphere.

Especially during the dark time of the year, this is a firm ritual in Scandinavia. Candlelight is simply part of Advent, breakfast on a winter morning, and a cozy evening.

Hand-poured in Fiskars

The candle is hand-poured in the Finnish village of Fiskars – the historic artisan village after which the Fiskars Group, to which Moomin Arabia belongs, is named.

The container is made of ceramic and is decorated with a Moomin illustration in green and orange with stars. It makes a beautiful decorative piece on a dresser, dining table, or windowsill, even without a lit candle.

Reuse after burning

Once the candle has burned down, the small container does not need to be thrown away. Once cleaned, it is perfect for use as a tea light holder, for paperclips and small items, or as a small planter for a succulent.

Gift of Love – the festive finale of the Love year 2026

In 2026, Moomin Arabia celebrates the 30th anniversary of the well-known Moomin Love mug and dedicates an entire year to the theme of love. Alongside Sweethearts and Loving Care, Gift of Love forms the festive conclusion to this anniversary year.

A special feature: in 2026, Gift of Love replaces the traditional winter seasonal collection. The color palette of dark green, mustard yellow, and beige with small red accents fits wonderfully with the Christmas season, but does not look too seasonal beyond that.

Safety instructions

Never leave burning candles unattended and keep out of reach of children and pets. Place the candle on a heat-resistant surface and keep away from flammable materials.

My assessment

The Gift of Love candle is, for me, one of the most beautiful small gifts in the collection. It comes in a gift box, requires no additional packaging, and is always appropriate – whether as a small gift for Advent coffee or a little thank-you.

I particularly like that the candle is hand-poured in Fiskars. This makes this small product a genuine piece of Finnish craftsmanship.

And once the candle has burned down, you are left with a pretty Moomin container that can be enjoyed for a long time to come.
