The Multiholk for lovers of clear architecture

With the Multiholk Bauhaus, Wildlife Garden deliberately moves away from the look of a traditional Swedish wooden house. Instead, clear lines, a reduced form, and the restrained combination of white and gray define its appearance.

Wildlife Garden describes this design itself as the most functionalist and minimalist within the Multiholk series. This makes the Bauhaus particularly well-suited to modern architecture and minimalist gardens and patios.

Nest box in spring

Behind the modern facade lies the proven Multiholk construction. During the breeding season, the house can be used as a nest box for small garden birds up to about the size of a sparrow.

Inside, there are ventilation openings and climbing notches. These help the growing fledglings reach the exit hole.

This nicely illustrates the core idea of Wildlife Garden: the appearance may be unconventional, but the function for the birds remains the top priority.

A bird feeder in autumn and winter

After the breeding season ends, the Multiholk can be converted into a bird feeder. The storage container holds up to 2 liters of birdseed.

The design is engineered so that the birds do not sit directly in the feed. This helps reduce contamination from bird droppings and keeps the feeding area more hygienic.

Bauhaus instead of Swedish cottage

Technically, this version also follows the Multiholk principle – but in terms of design, it takes an entirely different path.

While the classic red Swedish cottage recalls traditional Swedish wooden houses, the Bauhaus translates the same idea into a modern, minimalist architectural language. It is precisely this contrast that makes the various Multiholk models interesting: the function is maintained, while the character of the house changes significantly.

The Multiholk Bauhaus can be attached to a wall, a tree, or a suitable post. A wall bracket and screws are included.

A post is not included and can be purchased separately.

Cleaning and maintenance

After the breeding season, the nest box should be cleaned before being converted into a bird feeder for the colder months. Regular inspection and cleaning of the feeding area are also recommended during the feeding season.

The painted exterior surfaces can be carefully cleaned if necessary. Wood is a natural material, so slight variations in structure and surface may occur.

My assessment

I find the Bauhaus particularly interesting within the Multiholk series because Wildlife Garden shows here that a functional birdhouse does not necessarily have to look like a classic nest box or a romantic Swedish house.

The construction follows the same well-thought-out idea as the Swedish cottage: a nest box and bird feeder are combined in one product. Visually, however, the Bauhaus is much more objective and modern.

Those who prefer a classic Swedish garden design will likely opt for the Swedish cottage or villa. For me, however, the Bauhaus is a particularly great fit for a modern house, a clean-lined patio, or a similarly styled garden.
