Wally & Whiz – Danish gourmet wine gums with unusual flavor pairings

Wally & Whiz originated in Copenhagen with the idea of rethinking the flavor of wine gums. The characteristic feature is the combination of two complementary flavors: one flavor in the soft wine gum, the second often as a fine fruit or spice coating.

Vegan, gluten-free, and, according to the manufacturer, allergen-free. Gelatin is not used. Instead, the signature consistency is starch-based. For me, Wally & Whiz is clearly positioned in the premium segment – not inexpensive, but flavor-wise, significantly more unique than classic wine gums.

Ingredients: Glucose-fructose syrup, sugar, water, corn starch, acidity regulator (malic acid, sodium citrates, citric acid), natural flavoring, powdered sugar (sugar, potato starch), coloring plant concentrates, coconut oil, fruit powder, glazing agent (carnauba wax)

My Assessment

Wally & Whiz is new to my assortment and is clearly not an ordinary wine gum in terms of price. I included the brand nonetheless because the quality and, above all, the flavor combinations are convincing. Add to that the fact that they are vegan, gluten-free, and, according to the manufacturer, allergen-free – these are strong arguments for a gift product. However, the deciding factor for me remains: it has to taste good, and that is precisely where Wally & Whiz clearly sets itself apart.
