The word Glögg is the shortened form of glödgat vin and actually means nothing more than mulled wine. Glögg is sometimes also referred to as Swedish punch or Swedish mulled wine. Traditionally, Glögg is drunk during Advent and especially on St. Lucia's Day. It is accompanied by Lussekatter (sweet yeast buns with saffron) and gingerbread, e.g. Nyakers. During the pre-Christmas period, Glögg, also without alcohol, is offered everywhere in Sweden at any time of day.

The Vinfabriken Smålandsglögg is an alcohol-free Glögg with a fruity-spicy taste and exciting notes of cranberries and blackcurrants, cardamom and cinnamon.

We recommend serving the Glögg in a mug with a spoon, according to Swedish tradition. Cover the bottom of the mug with chopped almonds and raisins and fill it with the gently warmed Glögg. Scandinavia's mulled wine is slowly becoming a cult drink in Germany too, as it is fuller-bodied and heartier in taste than German mulled wine.
