RIEMA – Cotton blankets made in Germany
RIEMA was founded in 2018 by Claudia Ruks near Hamburg. Her idea was born out of a search for a high-quality, sustainably produced cozy blanket with a modern design. The first RIEMA blanket was sold in 2019.
The blankets are manufactured in Germany. After the raw material is delivered, RIEMA works with regional partners for the further production steps: from spinning and dyeing to weaving, as well as napping, shearing, and tailoring. It is precisely this combination of cotton, German textile production, and modern, uncomplicated designs that makes the brand interesting for my assortment.
Material and production
The classic RIEMA blankets are made of 100% organic cotton from controlled organic cultivation. Cotton is skin-friendly, breathable, and does not build up static electricity as it contains no synthetic fibers. After weaving, the surface is napped and then evenly sheared. This creates the soft feel typical of RIEMA.
My assessment
For me, RIEMA is not a brand I carry just because of a nice story: the blankets actually sell well to my customers. I included Joris because of its graphic semi-circle pattern. It stands out more clearly than a plain blanket, yet remains easy to combine due to the black and natural colors. This product group worked significantly less well for my shop with Klippan – which is why I now consciously focus on RIEMA for cotton blankets.
Gesetzliche Gewährleistung
Mindestens zwei Jahre gesetzliche Gewährleistung der Vertragsmäßigkeit für Waren, die in der Europäischen Union verkauft werden.
Verbraucherinnen und Verbraucher können ihre Rechte im Rahmen des gesetzlichen Gewährleistungsrechts geltend machen, z. B. wenn die Waren
- nicht der Beschreibung entsprechen,
- nicht bestimmungsgemäß funktionieren.
Verkäufer haften für jede Vertragswidrigkeit, die zum Zeitpunkt der Lieferung der Waren bestand und innerhalb des Zeitraums der gesetzlichen Gewährleistung erkennbar wird. Verkäufer müssen in solchen Fällen Folgendes anbieten:
- kostenlose Nachbesserung oder kostenlose Ersatzlieferung,
- in bestimmten Fällen eine Preisminderung oder eine vollständige Erstattung des Kaufpreises.
In einigen Ländern gilt ein längerer Zeitraum für die gesetzliche Gewährleistung. Für gebrauchte Waren kann ein kürzerer Zeitraum gelten, jedoch nicht weniger als ein Jahr.

Verkäufer und Hersteller können auch gewerbliche Garantien gewähren, die unabhängig von der gesetzlichen Gewährleistung gelten. Diese GARAN-Kennzeichnung zeigt beispielsweise, dass der Hersteller eine gewerbliche Haltbarkeitsgarantie ohne zusätzliche Kosten gewährt, die die gesamte Ware abdeckt.
