Frosty Day – Moomin winter on an enamel mug

The Muurla "Frosty Day" mug brings the wintry side of the Moomin world to your table. The combination of white and blue is reminiscent of a clear, frosty day and gives the mug a calm, Nordic aura.

The motif makes the mug a beautiful companion for the cold season. At the same time, it is of course not only for use in winter – coffee, tea, or cocoa taste great in it all year round.

0.37 liters – the classic Muurla size

With a capacity of 0.37 liters, the mug is pleasantly generous. It offers enough space for a good coffee, tea, or cocoa while remaining handy.

Thanks to its low weight of around 160 grams, the mug is also very well suited for travel. It is much easier to take along on camping trips, picnics, or into the garden than a comparable ceramic mug.

Enamel – light and robust

The mug consists of a carbon steel core coated with enamel. Muurla uses a carbon steel core with a double enamel layer for its enamel products. The result is lightweight and robust tableware that is suitable for everyday use as well as for outdoor activities.

This combination is precisely one of the special strengths of enamel for me: you get a proper drinking vessel that doesn't have the fragility of a classic ceramic mug.

For home and on the go

The Frosty Day mug works just as well at the breakfast table as it does while camping or at a picnic. It is suitable for cold and hot drinks and can simply be put in the dishwasher after use.

Important: Enamel tableware is not microwave safe.

My assessment

For me, the "Frosty Day" is one of the calmer Muurla Moomin motifs. White and blue fit the wintry mood beautifully without the mug becoming a purely Christmas-themed item.

At 0.37 liters, it is also exactly the size that I find particularly well-executed in classic Muurla enamel mugs: large enough for a proper coffee or tea, yet still compact and light enough for on the go.

If you like Moomins and are looking for a mug that isn't too colorful, but rather shows the Nordic, wintry side of the Moomin world, I find this motif exceptionally beautiful.
