Friendship – Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden

The Muurla "Friendship" collection shows Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden in quiet, shared moments. The focus is on closeness, care, and the beautiful feeling of simply spending time together.

The motif is particularly well-showcased on the large round tray. The pink background gives the illustration a warm, friendly character while also making the tray a decorative home accessory.

Ø 35 cm – plenty of room for serving

With a diameter of 35 cm, this Friendship tray is significantly more generous than the small Muurla trays. Several cups, a coffee pot, milk and sugar, or a small breakfast can be comfortably transported together.

The round surface also offers enough space for coffee and cake, pastries, snacks, or small hors d'oeuvres. This makes the tray not only beautiful to look at, but a truly practical serving tray for everyday use and for guests.

Serving, setting the table, or decorating

Thanks to its round shape, the tray is very versatile. It can be used classically for serving, but looks just as beautiful on a set table.

Muurla makes its trays from Finnish birch veneer. This Friendship tray is also handcrafted in Finland.

For me, this is an important distinction for this product group. We are not just talking about a printed plastic tray here, but a product made of Finnish birch veneer that is actually manufactured in Finland.

Dishwasher safe and suitable for everyday use

The protected surface makes the tray uncomplicated for daily use. According to Muurla, it can even be cleaned in the dishwasher after breakfast, coffee, or serving.

This combines the warm feel of birch veneer with an ease of maintenance that you might not initially expect from a wooden product.

Two Friendship trays – two different tasks

At Nordlichttraum, the Friendship motif is also available on a smaller rectangular tray measuring 20 x 27 cm. The two sizes complement each other very well.

The small tray is ideal for a cup of coffee or tea, breakfast, and a small snack. The large round tray with a 35 cm diameter, on the other hand, provides enough space when several drinks or dishes are to be served together.

My assessment

For me, the 35 cm version is the true serving tray of the Friendship series. The surface is large enough that you can actually serve multiple people – for example, with coffee among friends or at breakfast.

The Friendship motif with Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden fits perfectly here. A tray where you share coffee and pastries, and a collection about closeness and time spent together – here, motif and use truly come together.

And, as with the small tray, the production method is a strong argument: Finnish birch veneer and handiwork in Finland make this a much more interesting product than a common printed serving tray.
