Scandinavia Tip: The Moomins are a cult in Finland. In Finland, there is the large Moomin World near Turku in the town of Naantali. In Helsinki and other cities, there are Moomin Shops. This Finnish cult figure with the cute and funny cartoon films is only known to insiders in Germany. Occasionally, some films are repeated on television. Tove (Marika) Jansson published the first Moomin stories in 1953, inspired by Tolkien and Carroll. The Moomins became world-famous through the Japanese animated series. The Moomins are small hippopotamus-like trolls who live peacefully with their friends. The main characters are Snork, Snorkmaiden, Little My, Snufkin, and many others. Together they experience a lot of fun and adventure. Wanderer Stinky and Morra ensure that it never gets boring.
