Bon Appétit – welcome to Moominmamma's kitchen

The Muurla "Bon Appétit" collection is all about cooking and eating together. The best dishes in the Moominhouse kitchen are created from seasonal ingredients – and from Moominmamma's joy in cooking for her family and friends.

It is hard to imagine a product that would fit this collection better than a proper cooking pot. The Moomin motif turns a practical kitchen utensil into cookware with plenty of character.

2.5 liters – the practical pot for every day

With a 2.5-liter capacity, the Bon Appétit pot is a very versatile size. Muurla recommends it for cooking potatoes, porridge, and soups, among other things.

Of course, it can just as easily be used for vegetables, smaller stews, sauces, and many other dishes. This makes it a very sensible addition to the smaller 1.3 l saucepan in the Bon Appétit series.

Cook and then serve directly

Muurla has deliberately developed its enamel cookware not just for preparing food. The pots are also intended for serving.

I find this particularly nice about Bon Appétit: The beige pot with the Moomin illustrations does not have to disappear into the kitchen after cooking, but can be placed directly on the set table.

Induction, gas, electric, ceramic – and even open fire

The core of the pot is made of carbon steel and is provided with a double enamel layer. As a result, the pot is suitable for practically all common heat sources.

It works on induction, gas, electric, and ceramic hobs and can also be used in the oven. Even use on a grill or over an open fire is possible.

This makes the Bon Appétit pot interesting not only for the home kitchen. Enamel is also a very practical material for camping and outdoor cooking.

Enamel – robust cookware for everyday life

Muurla uses a carbon steel core with a double enamel coating for its enamel cookware. The cookware is functional, relatively light, and easy to keep clean.

After use, the pot can be put in the dishwasher.

Important: Enamel cookware is not microwave-safe.

Bon Appétit as a small cookware series

The 2.5 l pot can be combined very nicely with the smaller 1.3-liter Bon Appétit saucepan. While the saucepan is ideal for sauces, milk, or smaller portions, the 2.5 l pot takes care of the bigger tasks in the kitchen.

In this way, the two Muurla products actually become a small, functional Moomin cookware set rather than just a collection of decorative fan items.

My assessment

I find the 2.5 l pot particularly interesting within the Muurla Moomin collection because design and function come together very well here. The size is suitable for everyday use and versatile enough that the pot does not just have to be taken out of the cupboard occasionally.

I especially like that Muurla did not just put the motif on any old cooking pot. The whole Bon Appétit series revolves around Moominmamma's kitchen, seasonal ingredients, and cooking for family and friends. On a real enamel cooking pot, this story simply makes sense.

Together with the 1.3 l saucepan, you also get two sizes that complement each other very well in the kitchen: the small saucepan for quick and small tasks and this 2.5 l pot for soups, potatoes, porridge, and slightly larger dishes.
