Flower Field – Moomin for the home

With the Flower Field storage basket, Muurla brings the Moomin world into the home beyond cups and tableware. The floral motif turns a practical storage basket into a decorative home accessory at the same time.

Made from recycled PET bottles

The material of this Muurla basket is unusual: it is made from recycled PET bottles. The processing creates a felt-like surface that is pleasantly lightweight yet robust.

This gives plastic a new use as a long-lasting everyday item. Visually, the material is much more reminiscent of felt than a classic plastic surface.

17 liters – Organization without the plastic box look

The basket is suitable for many things that quickly clutter up everyday life: toys, magazines, handicrafts, scarves, hats, or other smaller items can be easily collected and stored inside.

Especially in the living room or children's room, I find this type of storage much more attractive than a standard plastic box. The basket can stand visibly in the room and becomes part of the decor thanks to the Moomin flower motif.

Also as a decorative plant pot cover

A nice alternative use is as a cover for larger houseplants. The felt-like material and the Flower Field motif naturally go particularly well with this.

Important: The basket itself is not waterproof. When used with plants, a waterproof inner pot or a suitable saucer should therefore be used.

For indoors and outdoors

Muurla approves the basket for both indoor and outdoor use. This means it can also be used, for example, on a sheltered patio or balcony.

The material is lightweight, so the basket is still relatively easy to move even when full. For cleaning, Muurla recommends hand washing.

My assessment

I find these Muurla baskets particularly interesting because they make sensible use of recycled PET. You cannot tell at all that the material comes from plastic bottles – the surface is much more reminiscent of felt.

I also think the size of 17 liters is well-chosen. The basket is large enough to actually help keep things tidy, but not so large that it becomes dominant in the room.

And for me, the Flower Field motif fits this product particularly well. Whether for toys, magazines, handicrafts, or as a decorative plant pot cover – motif and function complement each other very nicely here.
