Adventure Move – a scene from "Comet in Moominland"
The Adventure Move motif tells a short story from the world of the Moomins. It features various inhabitants of Moominvalley in a scene from "Comet in Moominland." While some of the characters appear tense or are full of movement, Moomintroll himself seems surprisingly calm.
The illustration is one of those motifs where you can discover new small details even with daily use. The combination of the restrained grey and the red and multicolored illustrations gives the mug its characteristic look.
The motif is based on the Moomin stories by Tove and Lars Jansson and was adapted for Arabia as a tableware design by Tove Slotte.
The classic Arabia shape
This Moomin mug also features the clear, functional shape known from Arabia. The simple design allows the Moomin motif plenty of room while making the mug a timeless piece for daily use.
This very combination of functional Scandinavian shape and the detailed illustrations by Tove Jansson is, for me, an essential part of the appeal of Moomin by Arabia.
Vitro porcelain – robust for everyday life
The mug is made of vitro porcelain. The material is designed for daily use and combines robust everyday suitability with the clear shape of the Arabia tableware series.
The mug is dishwasher safe and suitable for the oven, microwave, and freezer. This makes it not just something for Moomin collectors, but a mug that can naturally be used every day.
With 0.3 liters, it has a pleasant size for coffee, tea, or cocoa and thus fits very well with the classic Arabia mug format.
My assessment
For me, Adventure Move is one of those Moomin motifs where the story is particularly well expressed. It is not just a figure on a mug, but a small scene from the world of the Moomins.
The grey decor also makes this version somewhat quieter and more restrained than many colorful Moomin motifs. As a result, it combines very well with other tableware and looks coherent even if the entire table is not set in a Moomin design.
Those who love Moomin and are simultaneously looking for a more subtle mug for daily use get both here: a characterful motif and an exceptionally practical Arabia mug.
