Adventure Move – a bowl full of Moomin history

The Adventure Move bowl depicts a scene from the Moomin story "Comet in Moominland." A giant comet is approaching Moominvalley, causing the inhabitants to leave their homes. Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden set out to find out what is going on.

The motif on the bowl does not just show the two main characters. You can also see Little My, Stinky, Sniff, the Fillyjonk, and other residents of Moominvalley. This makes the bowl appear particularly lively and tells a larger part of the story.

A motif from Tove Jansson's Moomin world

The Adventure Move collection picks up scenes from Tove Jansson's Moomin stories. The illustrations in the series are based on the book "Comet in Moominland" from 1946 and the comic strip "Moomin and the Comet" from 1958.

This is what makes this tableware so appealing: each bowl, plate, and mug shows a different excerpt from the same story. This allows you to gradually assemble a small scene from Moominvalley on the table with several pieces.

15 cm – the practical size for everyday life

With a diameter of 15 cm, the bowl is a versatile size for daily use. It is perfect for cereal, yogurt, and curd dishes, but just as suitable for desserts, fruit, small side dishes, cookies, or snacks.

Its relatively flat shape makes it pleasantly versatile. It is large enough for a decent portion of cereal while being compact enough to use for smaller meals or side dishes.

The classic Arabia shape

The shape of the Adventure Move bowl is based on Kaj Franck's timeless Teema series. The clean design is functional while giving the Moomin motif enough space.

This is a combination that always works well with Moomin by Arabia: the shape is simple and timeless, while the illustrations provide the character.

Vitreous porcelain – for daily use

The bowl is made of vitreous porcelain and is designed for daily use. It is dishwasher-safe as well as suitable for the microwave, oven, and freezer.

This makes it genuine everyday tableware and not just something for the display cabinet. This is especially important for a cereal bowl – take it out of the cupboard in the morning, use it, and then simply put it in the dishwasher.

My assessment

What I particularly like about this bowl is the large number of characters. While many Moomin products focus on a single figure or a specific scene, here you get a real snippet of Moominvalley.

I also find the 15 cm size extremely practical. For me, this is a true all-round bowl: cereal or yogurt in the morning, perhaps a dessert or fruit later, and a small side dish with dinner.

Anyone who already owns an Adventure Move mug can use this bowl to beautifully complement the motif on the table. And those simply looking for a versatile Moomin bowl will get a successful combination of Tove Jansson's stories and classic Arabia design.
