A Moomin mug for those in love
Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden together on a mug – that's really all this motif needs to tell the story. The "Love" motif is one of the most charming Moomin designs, showing the two in a lovely scene with hearts.
For the 30th-anniversary edition, this popular motif was realized in a soft pink with a warm cream-colored base tone. The color scheme appears friendly and understated, making it suitable not only for Valentine's Day but just as well for your daily breakfast or coffee table.
The anniversary edition can be identified by the special 30th-anniversary stamp on the bottom.
The classic Arabia shape
The shape of the mug is a true Arabia classic. Its clean, timeless design dates back to the traditional Arabia tableware shape that later became known as Teema. This simple form was developed back in the 1950s and still stands for functional Scandinavian tableware today.
This simple shape works excellently with the Moomin mugs: the generous surface provides the necessary space for Tove Jansson's illustrations, while the mug itself remains pleasantly timeless.
Vitro porcelain – robust for everyday life
The mug is made of vitro porcelain. This material combines robust everyday suitability with the clear design typical of Arabia.
The mug is dishwasher safe and suitable for the oven, microwave, and freezer. This makes it not just a beautiful Moomin piece, but one explicitly intended for daily use.
With 0.4 liters, this version offers a bit more volume than the smaller 0.3-l mug. It is therefore particularly well-suited for anyone who likes to enjoy a slightly larger coffee, tea, or cocoa in the morning.
My assessment
For me, the 0.4-l mug is the right choice if you prefer your Moomin mugs a bit more generous. The motif featuring Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden is extremely affectionate without seeming kitschy, and the soft pink matches the theme of "Love" very nicely.
I find the combination of the emotional Moomin motif and the classic, highly functional Arabia shape particularly successful. For me, that is precisely what makes the appeal of Moomin by Arabia: you aren't just buying a decorative piece, but a mug that can be used every day.
