Forest – a little journey through Scandinavian nature

The Forest wool baby blanket is quintessentially Scandinavian. Various little forest creatures are scattered across the blanket, turning this 65 x 90 cm wool throw into a playful textile for the nursery.

The design comes from Bengt Lindberg and Lotta Glave – better known as Bengt & Lotta. The Swedish designer duo has worked closely with Klippan for many years and has created many of the company's well-known animal and nature motifs.

100% organic lambswool

Klippan manufactures the Forest baby blanket from 100% organic lambswool.

According to the manufacturer, the organic lambswool used is free from pesticides. No chemicals or antibiotics are used in the rearing of the lambs.

Lambswool possesses natural temperature- and moisture-regulating properties. It can absorb moisture and release it back into the environment, thus ensuring a comfortably balanced climate.

65 x 90 cm – the classic baby format

At 65 x 90 cm, Forest is a true wool baby blanket. The compact format is very well-suited for prams and cradles and is easy to take along when on the go.

The size is also practical at home – for snuggling, as a small play mat, or as a wool blanket in the baby's room.

At Klippan, we consciously distinguish between sizes: 65 x 90 cm is the classic baby format. The larger 90 x 130 cm blankets are suitable as larger children’s blankets and as lap blankets for adults.

A forest full of little inhabitants

With Forest, Bengt & Lotta do not tell a complicated story. Instead, various animals and figures populate the forest, together forming a playful graphic pattern.

This clear visual language is typical of many of the duo's designs. Children can discover the individual figures, while the overall image remains calm enough to appeal to adults as well.

Bengt & Lotta and Klippan

Bengt Lindberg and Lotta Glave are among the designers with whom Klippan collaborates most intensively. Their designs can be found on numerous wool blankets, cotton textiles, and home accessories from the Swedish manufacturer.

Furthermore, Klippan also distributes products from the Bengt & Lotta brand internationally. The connection goes significantly beyond individual design commissions.

Forest is a good example of this collaboration: a simple nature motif with clear Scandinavian design language that transfers perfectly to a woven wool blanket.

Natural material instead of synthetic fiber

I find the choice of material particularly important for a baby blanket. Forest is not made from a synthetic fiber blend, but entirely from lambswool.

Wool does not just provide warmth. Its natural properties help to regulate temperature and moisture. At the same time, the wool fiber has dirt-repellent properties due to its natural wool grease.

This makes a good wool blanket an surprisingly uncomplicated companion in everyday life.

Klippan Yllefabrik – experience with wool since 1879

Klippan Yllefabrik is a Swedish family business with a history dating back to 1879. Its headquarters are still located in the town of the same name, Klippan, in southern Sweden.

Over generations, the original wool processing business developed into a manufacturer known today especially for wool blankets and other home textiles made from natural materials.

In-house production in Latvia

The wool textiles are manufactured at the subsidiary Klippan Saule in Latvia. There, Klippan has a modern machine park and controls essential steps of textile production itself.

Klippan purchases the natural fibers and oversees, among other things, spinning, dyeing, warping, weaving, and brushing within its own production process.

This textile experience is especially important for patterned baby blankets. The design is not simply printed onto a finished blanket, but is created as an integral part of the textile.

Care – 30°C on a wool cycle

Wool should not be washed unnecessarily often. Frequent airing out and gentle shaking are often enough to refresh the blanket.

If washing becomes necessary, Klippan recommends machine washing Forest at 30°C exclusively on a wool cycle. The blanket should be washed separately and not tumble dried. Bleach is not suitable.

My assessment

To me, Forest is one of the most typical Klippan baby blankets. A Scandinavian forest motif, Bengt & Lotta as designers, plus 100% organic lambswool – here, the design and material go very well together.

I particularly like the fact that the blanket is clearly designed for children without looking like an arbitrary baby product. The motif is playful, but graphically clear, and thus typical of Bengt & Lotta.

At 65 x 90 cm, Forest is a handy wool baby blanket for prams and home use. And thanks to the organic lambswool, there is a material quality behind the beautiful motif that we should certainly highlight in the product title.
