Samba – a Klippan classic

Samba is one of the classic wool blankets from Klippan Yllefabrik. Its design is understated and uncomplicated, making it very easy to combine with various interior styles.

For me, Samba is a typical Klippan blanket: no spectacular motif or unusual material blend, just pure lambswool, a generous size, and a beautiful selection of colors.

100% lambswool

Klippan manufactures Samba from 100% lambswool. The natural wool fiber provides warmth while offering temperature- and moisture-regulating properties.

Wool can absorb and release moisture. This creates a comfortable warmth under the blanket without it becoming unpleasantly stuffy.

The wool fiber's natural dirt-repellent properties are also an advantage in everyday use. Therefore, a good wool blanket does not need to be washed constantly.

130 x 200 cm – generous and suitable for everyday use

At 130 x 200 cm, Samba offers plenty of space to snuggle up. The two-meter length is particularly pleasant on sofas and armchairs, as the blanket comfortably covers you from your feet to your shoulders.

At the same time, Samba works very well as a visible home textile. Placed over a sofa, armchair, or at the foot of the bed, the wool blanket adds color and textile warmth to the room.

The color makes the difference

With a wool blanket as understated as Samba, color plays an especially important role. Klippan offers the model in a variety of shades – from calm gray to misty pink and mint, to bolder yellow.

This allows Samba to either blend unobtrusively into an existing interior or to consciously set a color accent.

Wool with a traceable origin

For Samba, Klippan uses lambswool from New Zealand from farmers licensed under Wool Integrity NZ™.

Klippan states that the sheep are treated well and are not subjected to mulesing. Sheep farming practices also account for the well-being of both the animals and nature.

Additionally, Samba is certified according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and has been tested for a multitude of regulated substances that are harmful to health.

Klippan Yllefabrik – experience with wool since 1879

Klippan Yllefabrik is a Swedish family business whose history dates back to 1879. Its headquarters are still located in the town of Klippan in southern Sweden.

What began as simple wool processing has evolved over generations into a manufacturer now best known for its wool blankets and home textiles.

In-house production in Latvia

The wool textiles are produced by the subsidiary Klippan Saule in Latvia. There, Klippan has a modern machine park and controls essential steps of the textile production itself.

Klippan purchases the natural fibers and handles, among other things, the spinning, dyeing, warping, weaving, and the final finishing of the wool surface within their own production.

I find this particularly important for a classic blanket like Samba. When neither an extraordinary material nor a large design motif is the focus, the wool quality and textile workmanship must be convincing.

Care – 30°C on a wool cycle

A lambswool blanket does not need to be washed unnecessarily often. Regular airing and gentle shaking are often enough to freshen the blanket up for everyday use.

If washing becomes necessary, Klippan currently specifies machine washing Samba at 30°C on a wool cycle. The blanket should be washed separately and not tumble dried. Bleach is not suitable.

My assessment

For me, Samba is one of those classic Klippan wool blankets that hardly needs explanation. 100% lambswool, 130 x 200 cm, and a good selection of colors – those are the essential arguments.

Precisely because the design is not over-fashionable, Samba can work for many years. You choose a color that matches your interior and receive a classic wool blanket made from a natural material that Klippan has been working with for many decades.

This may not be the most spectacular story in the Klippan range – but for a good wool blanket, sometimes that is all you need.
