Rib – texture instead of a bold motif

With Rib, the focus is not on a large motif, but on the textile structure. Klippan weaves the cushion cover in a ribbed jacquard pattern that gives the surface depth and a pleasantly calm character.

This makes Rib particularly versatile. The cushion cover can be combined with patterned cushions as well as plain-colored home textiles and, thanks to its clear design, fits very well into a Scandinavian-styled living room.

100% lambswool

Klippan crafts the Rib cushion cover from 100% lambswool. Lambswool has finer fibers than many coarser wool qualities, making it particularly suitable for home textiles that you come into direct contact with.

The wool also gives Rib a natural surface structure. Unlike a smooth cotton cover, the material here is a visible and tactile part of the design.

45 x 45 cm – the classic cushion format

At 45 x 45 cm, Rib has a classic square format for a sofa, armchair, or bed. This allows the cushion cover to be easily combined with existing cushions.

Especially with a structured wool cushion, not everything on the sofa has to match perfectly. Rib works very well as a single accent among smoother cotton or linen cushions.

Matches the Klippan Rib wool throw

We already know the ribbed jacquard pattern from the Rib wool throw by Klippan. The cushion cover takes up the same textile structure and can therefore be combined beautifully with the throw.

Those who already own a Rib wool throw can pick up the pattern again with the matching cushion cover. However, the cushion cover also works perfectly well on its own.

Klippan Yllefabrik – experience with wool since 1879

Klippan Yllefabrik was founded in 1879 in the southern Swedish town of Klippan and remains family-owned to this day.

Today, the wool textiles are manufactured by the company's own subsidiary, Klippan Saule, in Latvia. There, Klippan operates a modern machine park and controls essential steps of textile production within its own corporate group.

Care

Under normal use, wool rarely needs to be washed. Often, it is sufficient to air the cushion cover regularly and shake it out gently.

For the current Rib cushion cover, Klippan recommends machine washing at 40 °C with a pre-wash cycle. It should be washed with similar colors, not bleached, and not tumble dried. According to the manufacturer, Rib can be ironed at a high temperature.

Please also always observe the sewn-in care label on the delivered cushion cover.

My assessment

I like Rib precisely because the design is so restrained. It doesn't need animal motifs, large ornaments, or bold graphics—the woven structure of the lambswool does the designing.

This makes the cushion cover very easy to combine. The connection with the Rib wool throw is, of course, particularly beautiful, but I wouldn't necessarily put everything together from one series. A single Rib cushion between other materials and structures can look significantly more interesting.

100% lambswool and the ribbed jacquard pattern make Rib a classic Klippan product for me: simple, material-focused, and distinctly Scandinavian.
