Preppy – an uncomplicated Klippan classic

Preppy is one of the classic wool blankets from Klippan Yllefabrik. The pattern is understated and timeless, making it very easy to combine with different furniture and interior styles.

For me, this is a distinct advantage, especially with a good wool blanket. Preppy doesn't follow short-lived interior trends; it is a blanket that still works perfectly even after many years.

100% lambswool

Klippan makes Preppy from 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the particularly fine wool from a young sheep's first shearing.

The natural wool fiber provides warmth while simultaneously possessing temperature- and moisture-regulating properties. It can absorb and release moisture, ensuring a pleasantly balanced climate beneath the blanket.

Wool also has natural dirt-repellent properties. Therefore, a good wool blanket needs to be washed much less frequently than many other home textiles.

130 x 200 cm – generous enough for cuddling

At 130 x 200 cm, Preppy offers plenty of room to cuddle up. I find the two-meter length particularly pleasant on sofas and armchairs because the blanket easily reaches from your feet to over your shoulders.

At the same time, Preppy is very well suited as a visible home accessory. Draped over a sofa, armchair, or at the foot of the bed, the blanket adds color and textile warmth to the room.

Seven colors – one pattern, different effects

Klippan offers Preppy in fog pink, purple, beige, blue, mustard, light green, and gray. The same pattern takes on a different character depending on the color.

For Preppy, Klippan uses New Zealand lambswool from farmers licensed under Wool Integrity NZ™.

This program sets requirements for animal welfare and the responsible treatment of sheep. Klippan explicitly confirms that the wool used comes from sheep that have not been subjected to mulesing.

Klippan Yllefabrik – expertise with wool since 1879

Klippan Yllefabrik is a Swedish family business with a history dating back to 1879. To this day, the company headquarters is located in the town of Klippan in southern Sweden.

Over the generations, the original wool processing plant has evolved into a manufacturer that is now particularly well-known for its wool blankets and home textiles.

In-house production in Latvia

Manufacturing takes place at the subsidiary Klippan Saule in Latvia, where Klippan has its own modern textile production facility.

Klippan controls key production steps within its own corporate group – from processing natural fibers, spinning, dyeing, and warping, to weaving and the final finishing of the wool.

For me, this is important, especially with a classic blanket like Preppy. It doesn't need a major design story to be convincing; what counts are the material and the textile craftsmanship.

Care – 30 °C on the wool cycle

A lambswool blanket should not be washed unnecessarily often. Regular airing and gentle shaking are often sufficient for daily maintenance.

When washing is necessary, Klippan currently specifies machine washing Preppy at 30 °C on the wool cycle. The blanket should be washed separately and not tumble dried. Bleach is not suitable.

My assessment

For me, Preppy is an uncomplicated Klippan wool blanket for everyday use. It doesn't need a famous designer name or an extraordinary wool blend to be convincing.

100% lambswool, 130 x 200 cm, and a wide color selection are the deciding arguments here. The timeless pattern ensures that the blanket can be easily integrated into various interiors.

Models like this demonstrate very well where Klippan's true strength lies: a long-standing wool manufacturer takes a good natural material, processes it themselves, and turns it into a wool blanket that doesn't need to be more complicated than it is.
