Pony – a genuine wool blanket for the little ones

With Pony, we start with the smallest size of Klippan wool blankets. 65 x 90 cm is the classic baby format and is very well suited for prams, cradles, and cribs.

The horse motif also makes the small wool blanket a beautiful home textile for the baby's room. The front and back show the pattern with inverted color effects.

100% lambswool

Klippan makes Pony from 100% lambswool. Especially for a baby blanket, I find this natural material particularly interesting.

Lambswool possesses temperature- and moisture-regulating properties. The wool fiber can absorb moisture and release it back into the environment, thereby ensuring a pleasantly balanced climate.

Wool does not just provide warmth. Its ability to regulate temperature and moisture is one of the reasons why it has been used for baby blankets for generations.

65 x 90 cm – the classic baby blanket format

At 65 x 90 cm, we deliberately call it a baby blanket. The compact format fits very well into a pram and can also be easily used in a cradle or crib.

At the same time, the blanket is handy enough to take with you on the go. It can also be used as a small mat or play blanket.

In this way, Pony differs significantly from the 90 x 130 cm Klippan blankets: we see those as knee blankets or larger children's blankets. 65 x 90 cm, on the other hand, is clearly the baby format.

Horses for the nursery

The Pony motif is child-friendly without appearing cluttered. Even with its baby textiles, Klippan remains true to typical Scandinavian design: clear forms, few colors, and a motif that is immediately recognizable.

Due to the different color effects on the two sides, the blanket also gets two faces. Depending on which side is facing up, the effect of the pattern changes.

A robust wool quality

With a wool weight of approx. 667 g/m², Pony is surprisingly robust for a baby wool blanket. Nevertheless, the total weight is only about 390 grams.

This gives you a proper woven wool blanket in a small format rather than a thin textile baby blanket that only contains a portion of wool.

Klippan Yllefabrik – experience with wool since 1879

Klippan Yllefabrik is a Swedish family business whose history dates back to 1879. The headquarters are still located in the town of Klippan in southern Sweden.

Over generations, the original wool processing evolved into a manufacturer that is now particularly well-known for its wool blankets and home textiles.

In-house production in Latvia

Klippan produces its wool textiles at its own subsidiary in Latvia. There, the company has a modern machine park and controls essential steps of the textile production itself.

Klippan buys the natural fibers and, within its own production, handles tasks such as spinning, dyeing, warping, weaving, and the final finishing of the wool surface.

Especially for a product for babies, I find it important that a textile manufacturer with its own experience in wool processing is truly behind the brand.

Care – cleaning wool as little as possible

Thanks to its natural wool fat (lanolin), wool possesses dirt-repellent properties and therefore does not need to be cleaned unnecessarily often.

For everyday use, we recommend airing the baby blanket outside regularly and shaking it out carefully. This refreshes the wool fiber without washing out a portion of the natural wool fat with every cleaning.

My assessment

For a baby blanket, I find natural wool particularly sensible. At 65 x 90 cm, Pony is small and handy, yet it consists of 100% lambswool and is surprisingly robust at approx. 667 g/m².

The horse motif makes it a beautiful baby blanket for prams and nurseries, without Klippan turning it into an overly colorful children's product.

And that is exactly what I like about many Scandinavian children's textiles: they are clearly designed for children, but that doesn't mean they have to look like typical nursery goods.
