Havanna – Organic lambswool and color

Havanna is one of those Klippan wool blankets where the color plays a key role in the design. Various shades of blue and natural tones combine to form a vibrant pattern that feels typically Scandinavian without being cold.

Measuring 90 x 130 cm, the Havanna is also extremely versatile. For adults, it is a handy lap blanket; for children, it is a lovely larger wool blanket.

100% organic lambswool

Klippan makes the Havanna Kids out of 100% organic lambswool. This also distinguishes the smaller Havanna in terms of material from the larger 130 x 200 cm version, which Klippan identifies as 100% lambswool.

Klippan states that the organic lambswool used is pesticide-free and that no chemicals or antibiotics are used in the rearing of the lambs.

Lambswool naturally possesses temperature- and moisture-regulating properties. It keeps you pleasantly warm and can absorb moisture and release it back into the environment.

90 x 130 cm – Lap blanket and larger children’s blanket

The 90 x 130 cm size sits exactly between a classic baby blanket and a large sofa blanket.

For adults, the Havanna is therefore very well suited as a lap blanket. After all, when reading or watching TV on the sofa or in an armchair, it doesn't always have to be a two-meter-long wool blanket.

For children, this same format is a full-fledged wool blanket. It can be used in the children's room, on the sofa, in the car, or while traveling, and can be used for much longer than a small baby blanket.

Water blue – Aqua Multi at Klippan

Klippan refers to this colorway as Aqua Multi. For the German shop, however, I find “water blue” to be very fitting, as it directly describes the effect of the color combination.

Several coordinated shades ensure that the Havanna does not look monochromatic despite the high blue content. The pattern thus gains depth and a vibrant textile character.

A blanket for the sofa, children’s room, and on the go

The compact format makes the Havanna particularly practical. It is easier to take along and store than a large sofa blanket while still offering enough surface area to provide pleasant warmth.

Klippan Yllefabrik – Experience with wool since 1879

Klippan Yllefabrik is a Swedish family business whose history dates back to 1879. The company headquarters is still located in the town of Klippan in southern Sweden.

Over generations, the original wool processing evolved into a manufacturer that is now particularly known for wool blankets and other home textiles made from natural materials.

In-house production in Latvia

Production takes place at Klippan Saule in Latvia. There, Klippan has its own textile production facility and controls the essential steps of wool processing itself.

Klippan purchases the natural fibers and, within its own production, handles tasks such as spinning, dyeing, warping, weaving, and brushing.

Especially with the Havanna, this experience with color and weaving plays an important role. The character of the blanket is not created by a printed decor, but by the textile design itself.

Care – 30 °C on a wool cycle

A wool blanket should not be washed more often than necessary. Wool has natural dirt-repellent properties. Frequently, regular airing and careful shaking are enough.

If washing becomes necessary, Klippan specifies machine washing at 30 °C exclusively on a wool cycle for the Havanna Kids. The blanket should be washed separately and not dried in a tumble dryer. Bleaching agents are not suitable.

My assessment

I particularly like the 90 x 130 cm Havanna because the material, color, and size work so well together. The multicolored design looks vibrant without the blanket requiring a specific motif.

100% organic lambswool is also a high-quality material that we should clearly state in the product title.

And the format is extremely practical: for adults a handy lap blanket, for children a larger wool blanket that can be used for significantly longer than a classic baby blanket.
