House in the Forest – a small house in the middle of the woods

A small house surrounded by tall fir trees – Akira Minagawa doesn't need much more for the "House in the Forest" motif.

Nevertheless, the design tells a story immediately. The house appears almost hidden among the trees, reminiscent of a quiet retreat in the middle of Scandinavian nature.

This motif works particularly well on a large wool blanket. House in the Forest is not just a blanket for warmth, but also a striking piece of home textile.

House in the Forest was designed by Akira Minagawa. Instead of a regularly repeating geometric pattern, the design works with a small landscape of a house and fir trees.

This distinguishes the blanket significantly from classic Klippan models like Domino, Block, or Chevron. It is not just the color or weaving structure that takes center stage here – the motif itself determines the character of the blanket.

100% lambswool

Klippan crafts House in the Forest from 100% lambswool. The natural wool fiber provides warmth while simultaneously possessing temperature- and moisture-regulating properties.

Wool can absorb and release moisture, creating a pleasantly balanced climate. These very natural properties make a good wool blanket comfortable on cool winter evenings as well as during the transitional seasons.

130 x 180 cm – the classic Klippan size

At 130 x 180 cm, House in the Forest has the classic format of many large Klippan wool blankets. The size is very well suited for sofas and armchairs and offers enough space to snuggle up in.

However, I would not let this particular blanket disappear into a cupboard. Draped over a sofa or armchair, the expansive forest motif looks particularly beautiful.

Green, grey, or blue

Klippan offers House in the Forest in green, grey, and blue. The same motif gains a slightly different character in each colorway.

Green particularly emphasizes the connection to the forest, grey appears calmer and more understated, and blue gives the motif a cooler, Nordic effect.

Wool with traceable origins

For House in the Forest, Klippan uses lambswool from New Zealand, sourced from farmers licensed under Wool Integrity NZ™.

This program sets requirements for animal welfare and the responsible treatment of sheep. Klippan expressly confirms that the wool used comes from sheep that have not been subjected to mulesing.

Additionally, the wool blanket is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.

Klippan Yllefabrik – experience with wool since 1879

Klippan Yllefabrik is a Swedish family business with a history dating back to 1879. Its headquarters remain to this day in the town of Klippan in southern Sweden.

Over generations, the company evolved from initial wool processing into a manufacturer known today especially for wool blankets and other home textiles.

In-house production in Latvia

Manufacturing takes place at the subsidiary Klippan Saule in Latvia. Klippan has its own textile production facility there and controls the essential work steps itself.

Klippan purchases the natural fibers and oversees spinning, dyeing, warping, weaving, and the final finishing of the wool within its own production.

For me, this is particularly interesting regarding a patterned wool blanket: behind the design is a company that not only selects the motif but also masters the textile implementation itself.

Care – for House in the Forest, dry cleaning is the way to go

Wool does not need to be cleaned often. Regular airing and gentle shaking are often sufficient for everyday maintenance to freshen up the blanket.

When a thorough cleaning becomes necessary, Klippan currently specifies dry cleaning only for House in the Forest. The blanket must not be bleached or tumble-dried.

My assessment

To me, House in the Forest is one of those Klippan blankets where the design provides genuine added value. The small house between the fir trees is drawn extremely simply, yet it instantly creates an atmosphere.

The motif also fits the material very well. A warm wool blanket made of pure lambswool combined with a small house in the middle of a Nordic forest – the product and the design tell the same story here.

And that is precisely what sets House in the Forest apart from many classic wool blankets: it works perfectly for snuggling, but is simultaneously a piece of home decor that one is happy to leave visible on a sofa or armchair.
