God Jul – Christmas in Swedish

“God Jul” simply means “Merry Christmas” in Swedish – and that is exactly what this Klippan table runner is all about.

Bengt Lindberg and Lotta Glave have combined classic Scandinavian Christmas motifs into a lively graphic pattern. Yule goats, gingerbread, and decorative branches are scattered across the fabric, creating a festive atmosphere without the design feeling cluttered.

Typically Bengt & Lotta: traditional Scandinavian motifs are reduced to clear shapes and combined with a healthy dose of humor and joie de vivre.

50% linen and 50% cotton

Klippan makes the God Jul table runner from a blend of 50% linen and 50% cotton.

I find this material combination particularly good for a table runner. Linen provides the typical natural texture and a slightly firmer character to the fabric. Cotton complements the material and makes the textile pleasantly uncomplicated for daily use.

This is especially practical for table textiles: they should look decorative, but at the same time must be suitable for everyday use and washable.

45 x 150 cm – not just lengthwise on the dining table

Measuring 45 x 150 cm, the God Jul runner has a versatile format. Classically, the runner is decorated lengthwise in the middle of a dining table. It works just as beautifully on a coffee table, sideboard, or buffet.

A small God Jul Christmas collection

Those who like the pattern can extend the God Jul look beyond the table runner. Trays as well as cutting and serving boards from Bengt & Lotta pick up the same Christmas design.

Klippan Yllefabrik – Swedish textile tradition since 1879

Klippan Yllefabrik was founded in 1879 in the southern Swedish town of Klippan and remains family-owned to this day.

Even though Klippan is especially well-known for its wool blankets, an extensive collection of table and kitchen textiles is part of the range. The collaboration with Swedish designers such as Bengt & Lotta in particular combines traditional textile manufacturing with modern Scandinavian design.

Care – 40 °C machine wash

According to Klippan, the God Jul table runner can be machine washed at 40 °C. The manufacturer recommends washing with a pre-wash and similar colors.

The table runner must not be bleached or tumble dried. Ironing is possible at a high temperature.

My assessment

To me, God Jul is exactly the type of Christmas decoration that fits well with Scandinavian design. The pattern is clearly festive, but not overloaded with glitter, gold, and large lettering.

I find the connection between Klippan and Bengt & Lotta particularly interesting. The same God Jul design appears on different products from both brands. This allows table runners, trays, and serving boards to be combined without everything having to look identical.

The material blend of 50% linen and 50% cotton also fits this product very well in my opinion. It gives the table runner a natural textile structure and at the same time makes it a practical Christmas item that doesn't just have to lie on the table for Advent.
