Fräken – Swedish nature for your sofa

Fräken is one of those cushion covers where Klippan achieves a great effect with a simple natural motif. Different fern leaves form a graphic pattern that immediately brings to mind a walk through a Scandinavian forest.

Fräken was designed by Swedish designer Bitte Stenström. Nature serves as her inspiration – and that is exactly what you can see in this pattern.

At Klippan, we don't just encounter Bengt & Lotta. The Swedish designer Bitte Stenström has also designed various textile patterns for the company.

Fräken shows beautifully how a natural motif becomes a decorative home textile. The fern leaves are not depicted as realistically as possible, but are instead assembled into a clear graphic pattern.

This gives the cushion cover a Scandinavian and nature-inspired look without becoming rustic.

100% cotton

The cushion cover is made of 100% cotton. For a decorative cushion, cotton is an uncomplicated material: pleasant to the touch, durable, and significantly easier to clean than many more delicate home textiles.

This is particularly practical for sofas and armchairs. After all, a cushion cover is touched regularly and should not only look beautiful but also be suitable for everyday use.

45 x 45 cm – the classic cushion format

Measuring 45 x 45 cm, Fräken has a classic square format. This makes the cushion cover easy to use on a sofa, armchair, or bed and combine with other cushions.

The fern motif works particularly well together with solid-colored cushions and natural materials. This allows Fräken to set an accent without the entire sofa having to be patterned.

With zipper – delivered without filling

The cushion cover is equipped with a zipper. This makes it easy to remove the cushion filling and wash the cover separately.

Klippan can do more than wool blankets

Many people initially associate Klippan Yllefabrik with wool blankets. This is understandable, as working with wool has been part of the company for generations.

However, Klippan also has an extensive collection made of cotton and other natural materials. These include cushion covers, table textiles, and other home accessories.

These products in particular show that Klippan is not just a manufacturer of wool blankets, but has much broader experience with home textiles.

Klippan Yllefabrik – textile tradition since 1879

Klippan Yllefabrik was founded in 1879 in the town of the same name in southern Sweden and is still owned by the Magnusson family today.

Over generations, the original wool processing business developed into a Scandinavian textile manufacturer with a wide collection for the home.

Easy to care for at 40 °C

Fräken can be washed in the washing machine at 40 °C. Klippan recommends washing the cushion cover with similar colors.

The cover can be ironed at a high temperature. It should not be tumble-dried and should not be bleached.

My assessment

For me, Fräken is a typical Scandinavian cushion cover: nature as a starting point, a clear graphic pattern, and an uncomplicated natural material.

I particularly like the fact that the fern motif is clearly visible but can still be easily combined with other textiles. You don't need an entire new interior – one or two cushions are enough to give a sofa a different character.

And with 100% cotton and 40 °C machine washability, Fräken is not only decorative but also pleasantly uncomplicated for everyday life.
