90 x 130 cm – between a children's blanket and a classic wool blanket

At 90 x 130 cm, this Klippan wool blanket has a particularly practical size. It is significantly larger than Klippan's classic baby blankets, but more compact than a large sofa blanket measuring 130 x 180 or 130 x 200 cm.

This makes it perfect as a knee blanket for the sofa or an armchair. At the same time, it is a lovely larger children's blanket that won't become too small after just a short time.

A moose is simply part of Scandinavia

Klippan does not need to tell a complicated story when it comes to the design. More than almost any other animal, the moose belongs to the Scandinavian landscape, making it the perfect fit for a Swedish wool blanket.

The grey design is typically Nordic and pleasantly understated. This allows the blanket to work just as well in the living room as it does in the nursery.

100% organic lambswool

Klippan makes the moose wool blanket from 100% organic lambswool. This is an important detail, as it is not simply general new wool.

Lambswool possesses natural temperature and moisture-regulating properties. It keeps you pleasantly warm while simultaneously being able to absorb moisture and release it back into the environment.

The natural wool fat also supports the fibre's dirt-repellent properties. This is a practical advantage, especially for a blanket that is used regularly.

As a knee blanket for sofas and armchairs

Not everyone needs a two-metre-long wool blanket for reading, watching TV, or working on the sofa. For this, the 90 x 130 cm format is extremely practical.

The blanket warms your legs and body but is much easier to handle than a large sofa throw. It also does not take up an unnecessary amount of space on an armchair.

A larger wool blanket for children

Klippan Yllefabrik is a Swedish family business with a history dating back to 1879. Its headquarters remain to this day in the town of the same name, Klippan, in southern Sweden.

Over generations, the company evolved from its original wool processing roots into one of the most well-known Scandinavian manufacturers of wool blankets and home textiles.

Own production in Latvia

The wool textiles are manufactured at Klippan's subsidiary in Latvia. There, the company has a modern machine park and controls the essential steps of the wool processing itself.

For me, this in-house textile expertise is one of the important differences between Klippan and a brand that merely buys finished blankets and adds its own label.

Care – wash as rarely as possible

Wool does not need to be washed after every use. The natural wool fat supports the self-cleaning and dirt-repellent properties of the fibre.

In everyday life, I therefore recommend airing the blanket outdoors regularly and shaking it out carefully. This is gentle on the wool fibre and preserves its natural properties.

If washing becomes necessary, Klippan currently advises washing the moose wool blanket in a machine at 30 °C exclusively on a wool cycle. The blanket should be washed separately and not tumble dried.

My assessment

I like the moose wool blanket primarily because of its size. 90 x 130 cm is a format that truly earns its place in the range between small baby blankets and large wool blankets.

For adults, it is a handy knee blanket for the sofa and armchair. For children, on the other hand, it is already a proper large wool blanket that can be used for significantly longer than a classic baby blanket.

Add to that 100% organic lambswool and a moose motif that could hardly fit a Swedish wool blanket better. An uncomplicated product – but that is exactly why it is so versatile.
