Apple – a Klippan new arrival for autumn and winter 2026

With "Apple," a new design by Bengt & Lotta is joining the wool blanket collection from Klippan Yllefabrik in autumn 2026.

The graphic apple motif combines vibrant red with cream, appearing both playful and clear. A typical design by Bengt & Lotta: an everyday subject reduced to a few shapes, resulting in a striking pattern.

We expect the first Apple wool blankets in November 2026.

Behind "Apple" are Bengt Lindberg and Lotta Glave. The Swedish designer duo has worked closely with Klippan for many years and has created many of the manufacturer’s most famous graphic patterns.

Plants, animals, and simple everyday objects repeatedly appear in their distinct visual language. "Apple" fits perfectly into this world: apples and branches turn into a large-scale graphic pattern that works just as well from a distance as it does up close.

100% brushed lambswool

Klippan makes the Apple blanket from 100% lambswool. After weaving, the surface is brushed. This gives the blanket its characteristic soft and slightly fluffy feel.

Wool provides warmth without simply trapping heat. It can regulate temperature and moisture, creating a particularly pleasant climate beneath the blanket.

That is precisely why a high-quality wool blanket is, for me, something completely different from a synthetic throw: it doesn't just feel warm; it utilizes the natural properties of the wool fiber.

130 x 180 cm – the classic Klippan size

At 130 x 180 cm, Apple features the classic format of large Klippan wool blankets. The size is comfortably sufficient to snuggle up completely on a sofa or armchair.

At the same time, the blanket works perfectly as a home textile. Draped over a sofa back, an armchair, or the foot of a bed, the large-scale apple pattern is showcased beautifully.

Red and cream – a bold accent

Apple is not a subtle wool blanket. The vibrant red sets a clear color accent and is balanced by the cream-colored areas of the pattern.

I especially love this color combination in autumn and winter. Red brings warmth into the room without making "Apple" automatically feel like a Christmas blanket.

For those who prefer something calmer, the Apple design by Klippan is also available in a green version.

From wool to finished blanket

Klippan Yllefabrik is a Swedish family business with a history dating back to 1879. Over generations, their original wool processing evolved into a manufacturer now known primarily for its wool blankets.

Production takes place at their own subsidiary, Klippan Saule, in Latvia. There, Klippan controls essential processing steps itself – from handling the yarn, dyeing, and weaving to the final finishing of the wool surface.

I find this particularly important for a wool blanket. Klippan is not just a design brand that buys in finished blankets, but a company with its own expertise in wool processing.

Care – clean as rarely as possible

Wool naturally possesses properties that make it require much less cleaning than many other textiles. Often, it is sufficient to air the blanket regularly and shake it out gently.

When a thorough cleaning becomes necessary, Klippan currently specifies dry cleaning for the Apple wool blanket. The blanket must not be bleached or tumble-dried.

This also shows us at Klippan why one should really check the care instructions for every individual product: while some current items may now be washed in a 30°C wool program, this currently does not apply to Apple.

My assessment

To me, Apple is one of those new releases where Bengt & Lotta and Klippan fit together particularly well. The motif is simple at first glance – apples, branches, red and cream – but that is exactly what creates a pattern with so much character.

The season for the launch is also fitting. When the first blankets arrive in November, it is exactly the time when a large brushed lambswool blanket on the sofa or armchair becomes really appealing again.

And in my opinion, when you buy Klippan, you get more than just a beautiful pattern. Behind the blanket is a company that has been working with wool for generations and still manages the essential production steps within its own corporate group today.
