Model G – the warm Glerups that reaches above the ankle
Model G is the boot among the Glerups models. The felted wool not only envelops the foot but reaches above the ankle. Especially on cooler days, this extra wool coverage is extremely pleasant.
Despite its higher profile, the shoe remains soft and flexible. Consequently, it feels completely different from a classic, rigidly constructed boot.
100% natural wool – especially comfortable without socks
The upper material is made of 100% pure, natural wool. Wool can absorb a lot of moisture and thus supports a pleasantly balanced foot climate. At the same time, it provides excellent insulation against the cold.
For me, Model G showcases what this material can do particularly well. The boot is excellent for wearing directly against the skin. The foot and ankle are surrounded by wool without the need for thick textile linings or rigid shoe construction.
Natural walking feel and plenty of freedom of movement
The shape of the Glerups follows the contours of the foot. Combined with the flexible wool felt and the soft natural rubber sole, this results in a very natural walking sensation.
Those who enjoy walking barefoot will quickly notice the difference: the foot receives protection and warmth, yet remains mobile within the shoe and is not unnecessarily constricted.
Natural rubber sole – taking the boot outside
The treaded natural rubber sole significantly expands the range of use for Model G. It is soft and flexible and offers better grip on various surfaces than the classic leather sole.
This makes the Glerups suitable for more than just the home. Vacation homes, campsites, terraces, gardens, or short walks outside are a perfect match for this model.
Even after a long day on the go, while camping, or after sports activities, it is extremely pleasant to get out of stiff shoes and slip directly into a soft wool boot.
However, Model G is not a technical hiking boot or a waterproof outdoor boot. For challenging hikes and permanently wet conditions, specifically constructed outdoor footwear is the better choice.
A shoe for a surprisingly large part of the year
A wool boot might initially sound like winter gear. To me, that is selling Glerups short.
Wool doesn't just provide warmth. It can absorb moisture, thereby contributing to a balanced climate around the foot. Especially without socks, Model G can be worn comfortably over a surprisingly wide temperature range.
This makes it attractive for the vacation home, the camper, or anyone who wants to quickly slip into a warm, uncomplicated shoe in the morning or evening.
Care – with wool, less is often more
As a rule, it is enough to air out the Glerups regularly. Light dirt can be carefully treated with a damp cloth and a detergent suitable for wool.
The natural rubber sole can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Afterwards, let the boot dry completely at room temperature.
My assessment
For me, Model G with a natural rubber sole is the most versatile Glerups if you like warm feet and don't want to wear the shoe only in your living room.
The higher wool construction provides warmth above the ankle, while the flexible natural rubber sole enables outdoor use. Especially for vacation homes, camping, gardening, and short trips, this combination is excellent.
And one shouldn't be misled by the term "felt boot." Model G does not feel like a heavy winter boot. Its strength lies precisely in the soft wool, the flexible sole, and the foot's freedom of movement.
