Model B – the uncomplicated Glerups
Slip in and you're done. Model B is the open-heel slipper from Glerups, making it particularly straightforward for everyday life.
The front part of the foot is completely enclosed by the soft wool, while the open heel allows for quick putting on and taking off. This is extremely practical, especially if you are constantly switching between shoes and going barefoot at home.
100% natural wool – great directly against the foot
The upper material consists of 100% pure natural wool. Glerups uses its own custom wool blend for this. Wool can absorb moisture, thereby supporting a pleasantly balanced foot climate.
Model B is therefore very comfortable to wear without socks. The wool sits directly against the foot, providing warmth while remaining breathable – a completely different feeling compared to many classic slippers made of synthetic materials.
Soft leather sole for indoors
The sole is made of soft, supple, and chrome-free calfskin. It protects the wool felt while remaining extremely flexible.
It is precisely this combination of wool felt and a thin leather sole that ensures a very direct walking sensation. The shoe remains flexible and the foot is not restricted by a rigid sole construction.
Glerups recommends the leather sole primarily for indoor use. Those who would like to regularly step out onto the terrace, into the garden, or outdoors with their slippers should therefore choose Model B with a natural rubber sole.
Only about 302 to 415 g per pair
Model B with a leather sole is extremely lightweight. Depending on the shoe size, a pair weighs only about 302 to 415 g.
The low weight perfectly matches the character of the shoe. You don't have the feeling of wearing a heavy slipper on your foot. Instead, the wool and leather move with your foot.
Care – wool needs little
Glerups do not normally need to be washed constantly. Often, it is sufficient to air out the slippers well.
Light dirt can be carefully removed with a damp cloth and a cleaning agent suitable for wool. Then, let the slippers dry completely at room temperature.
My assessment
If I were looking for a Glerups exclusively for the apartment and house and particularly liked being able to simply slip in, Model B with a leather sole would be my first choice.
The open heel makes the slipper uncomplicated, the soft leather sole maintains a very direct walking sensation, and at only around 300 to 400 g per pair, the shoe is extremely light.
Those who want to go outside the front door regularly, however, should take the version with a natural rubber sole. That is exactly why I find the Glerups system so good: the same basic idea, but different models and soles for different purposes.
