The art lies in the balance
A Flensted mobile appears light and natural – but it is precisely this lightness that requires a great deal of experience. The weight, distance, shape, and suspension of the individual elements must be coordinated so that the mobile maintains its balance while simultaneously reacting to the smallest air movements. This knowledge of kinetic balance has defined the work of the Flensted family for generations.
Flensted Mobiles – family history since 1953
The story began in 1953, when Christian and Grethe Flensted created a mobile of storks for the christening of their daughter Mette. Flensted Mobiles grew out of this personal idea. To this day, the mobiles are handmade and assembled in Denmark on the island of Funen. Frederiksminde, the old schoolhouse near Brenderup, has been closely linked to the company and the Flensted family for decades.
The designs draw their inspiration from nature, art, classic design, and aesthetics. The interplay of form, movement, and balance always remains a defining characteristic.

A mobile thrives on movement: Even a light breeze changes the position of the elements and constantly creates new perspectives.
My assessment
With the Airflow 24, I particularly like how little material is needed to create such a clear spatial effect. Especially in smaller rooms, this mobile beautifully demonstrates what distinguishes Flensted: it appears light and natural, even though a great deal of experience lies behind the balance.
