Sweet Stories – little personalities from nature

Sweet Stories translates animals, flowers, and organic shapes into small, poetic porcelain scenes. The pieces can stand alone or be combined into a personal decoration – for special occasions, the set table, or simply as a small eye-catcher in everyday life.

Dottir Nordic Design – little stories made of porcelain

Dottir Nordic Design was founded in Denmark in 2009 and was initially called Finnsdottir. The brand originated from a love of ceramics and focuses on porcelain objects that do not just decorate, but tell small stories.

The pieces are handmade in many work steps: the porcelain is cast, processed, and polished; complex designs are assembled by hand from several small parts, then glazed and fired at high temperatures. Small differences in shape, surface, and glaze are therefore part of the artisanal character and are not a defect in quality.

Glaze and craftsmanship

The special effect is created by the contrast between light porcelain and glazed details. Dottir works with transparent, deep-acting glazes and fires the pieces for strength and expression. I consciously describe the items as handmade and not generally as "hand-painted" – this describes the documented manufacturing process more accurately.

My assessment

With Dottir, I consciously focus on Sweet Stories and Winter Stories. The lamb clearly shows why: the animal figure immediately tells a small story while remaining a high-quality porcelain object. Other Dottir series are significantly less interesting for my German clientele – which is why I deliberately keep the assortment here small.
