Couple – two people in just a few lines
With the Couple candle holder, Bengt & Lotta reduce two people to a simple black silhouette. Faces and small details are unnecessary—the couple is instantly recognizable.
It is precisely this reduction that makes the motif pleasantly open. Couple can represent love and partnership, yet works without hearts, lettering, or other classic romantic symbols.
Small size for tree candles
At 8 cm high and 10.5 cm wide, Couple is one of the smaller candle holders by Bengt & Lotta. This means it easily finds its place on a narrow shelf, a windowsill, or a small side table.
Important when choosing candles: this small model is designed exclusively for slim tree candles. Standard dinner candles will not fit in the candle holder.
A small gift for two
Due to the couple motif, Couple is a lovely small gesture for a partner or a couple of friends—for example, for an anniversary, a wedding, Valentine's Day, or just because.
Even without a candle, the black silhouette remains as a small graphic object, meaning the candle holder is not solely dependent on its function.
My assessment
For me, Couple is a good example of the fact that a gift for couples does not automatically have to be romantically overloaded. Two people are perfectly sufficient as a motif.
At only 8 cm tall, it is also intentionally not a large focal point like Lovebirds or The Kiss. Couple is more of a small, uncomplicated gesture—and that is exactly why I find the design so successful.
