Moose Pyramid – a different take on the moose

With the Moose Pyramid, Bengt Lindberg's most famous animal motif is transformed into an unusual graphic figure. Several moose are arranged on top of one another to form a black pyramid.

The result is typical of Bengt & Lotta: you recognize the animals immediately, yet the candle holder does not look like a realistic animal figurine. The highly reduced silhouettes turn the moose into a graphic design object.

The moose is part of the Bengt & Lotta history

The moose is a special motif for Bengt Lindberg. His first candle holders were created as animal figures – starting with a cow, followed later by a sheep, a horse, and a moose. The moose in particular developed into one of Bengt's most famous designs.

To this day, the motif appears in various products and variations. The Moose Pyramid plays with this classic and turns a single moose into an entire animal pyramid.

22 cm high and solidly crafted

At 22 cm high and 17.5 cm wide, the Moose Pyramid is of a clearly visible size, yet remains compact enough for a sideboard, windowsill, shelf, or table.

The weight of 730 g gives a good impression of the build quality when purchasing online. The cut-out silhouettes look light, but it is actually a solid metal candle holder.

A design object even without a candle

The stacked moose make the Moose Pyramid a standalone decorative object even without a candle. When a candle is lit, light and shadow are added, further emphasizing the black silhouette.

My assessment

I especially like the Moose Pyramid because Bengt is playing with his own classic here. Instead of simply depicting the moose again, he multiplies it and uses it to build an entirely new shape.

And that is precisely why I wouldn't invent an additional story for this item. The moose pyramid is unusual enough. Anyone familiar with Bengt & Lotta will immediately recognize one of their most important motifs – just reassembled with a wink.
