Family reduced to a few lines
With the Family candle holder, Bengt & Lotta need surprisingly little to tell a small story. Three highly reduced figures become parents with their child – without faces, colours or further details.
It is precisely this reduction that makes the motif so appealing. The family is immediately recognisable and at the same time looks like a small graphic sculpture.
Compact candle holder for small tree candles
With a height of 11.5 cm and a width of 9 cm, Family is one of the smaller candle holders by Bengt & Lotta. It can therefore easily find its place on a shelf, side table, windowsill or a small chest of drawers.
Small tree candles are required for the candle holder. Even without a candle, the black family silhouette remains a decorative object.
A gift with a clear message
The family motif makes this small candle holder a lovely gift for many personal occasions – for example, the birth of a child, for new parents, as a housewarming gift, or simply for people for whom family has a special meaning.
My assessment
I like Family precisely because Bengt & Lotta do not depict the topic of family in a kitschy way. Three simple black figures are enough – the rest is understood immediately.
For me, this is a strength of many of the pair's designs: they function first as a graphic object, yet still tell a small story. Due to its compact size, Family is also a Bengt & Lotta candle holder for which you don't first have to find a large space.
