Lotta's angels for the dining table
The angel is one of the motifs closely associated with the history of Bengt & Lotta. Bengt Lindberg originally asked Lotta Glave to draw an angel. That design developed into one of their most famous motifs, which was later featured on candle holders, Christmas decorations, jewelry, and textiles.
With the Angels napkin holder, the motif is combined with a very everyday function: the black angels provide a permanent spot for paper napkins and at the same time become a small graphic object on the dining table.
Decoration with function
It is precisely this connection that I like about many Scandinavian home accessories: an item should be decorative but still fulfill a clear function. Weighing 400 g, the compact napkin holder sits solidly on the table and keeps the napkins neatly together.
The black metal combines particularly well with white, red, or Christmas-patterned napkins. As a result, the effect of the angel motif changes depending on which napkins are used.
My assessment
For me, the Angels napkin holder is a beautiful addition to the angel candle holder, but works just as well on its own. Especially during the Advent and Christmas season, an otherwise purely practical item takes on a decorative function.
And that is exactly what is typical of Bengt & Lotta for me: the motif is not just placed on a product – here, the angels themselves become part of its function.
