Dragonfly – an angel with unusual wings
The small Dragonfly candle holder depicts an angel with wide-spread wings. Their shape is reminiscent of a dragonfly's wings – hence the name "Dragonfly".
As with many metal designs by Bengt & Lotta, a few black lines are enough to make the figure clearly recognisable. This gives the angel a playful feel while remaining graphic and minimalist.
Lotta's angels are part of the Bengt & Lotta story
For Bengt & Lotta, angels are not just any Christmas motif. They are particularly characteristic of Lotta Glave's work. After Bengt asked her to draw an angel, it developed into one of her signature motifs.
The angels subsequently found their way onto candle holders, Christmas decorations, jewellery and textiles, becoming an important part of the shared design world of Bengt & Lotta.
Small format for tree candles
At 11.2 cm high and 11 cm wide, Dragonfly is a deliberately small candle holder. Important when choosing a candle: this model does not fit standard tapered candles, but only the significantly narrower tree candles.
Thanks to its compact size, the angel easily finds a place on a shelf, a windowsill or a small side table. Even without a candle, the black silhouette remains visible as a small figure.
My assessment
What I find particularly interesting about Dragonfly is that the angel does not look like a classic Christmas figure. The large, almost dragonfly-like wings give it a very unique character.
And the small size is not a disadvantage here, but part of the design. With a suitable tree candle, it creates a fine, light candle holder that takes up little space. The only important thing for me is that we clearly indicate the required candle size – so the customer knows exactly what they are getting before they buy.
