The Pond – fish become a graphic pattern

On the The Pond board by Bengt & Lotta, fish swim across the entire surface. Different shapes, colors, and sizes are combined into a vibrant graphic pattern.

The two differently designed sides are particularly interesting. This allows the board to be flipped over, creating a different effect on the set table depending on the side used.

More than a cutting board

At 20 × 40 cm, The Pond offers plenty of space for cutting and preparation. However, I think the real strength of these Swedish boards lies in their versatility.

The board works just as well for breakfast or directly for serving. Bread, cheese, fruit, pastries, or small snacks can be prepared on it and then placed on the table on the same board.

Laminated birch wood for daily use

The Pond is made of laminated birch wood. The hard, smooth surface is easy to care for, and the board can be cleaned in the dishwasher after use.

Weighing 460 g, the 40 cm long board remains pleasantly manageable. An opening also allows for space-saving storage by hanging – practical when counter space and storage room are limited.

Also practical in campers and vacation homes

Especially when space is limited, items that can perform multiple tasks are useful. The Pond can be used for cutting, as a breakfast board, and as a serving platter, and can then simply be hung up.

This makes the board interesting not only for the home kitchen but also for motorhomes, campers, or vacation homes. Instead of bringing several different boards and serving platters, one product can fulfill multiple functions.

My assessment

What I especially like about The Pond is that the motif fits the function well. Fish, bread, cheese, or small snacks on a serving board – it looks vibrant on the table without the product losing its practical side.

And that is exactly why I wouldn't just consider it a cutting board. For me, this 20 × 40 cm format is a kitchen board, breakfast board, and small serving platter all in one. The differently designed sides make it even more interesting, as you can change the look with a quick flip.

To me, this is typical of good Scandinavian everyday design: an item looks good, but most importantly, it is truly versatile to use.
