The Lift – a little story in steel

One person lifts the other up – that is all it takes for The Lift to tell a little story. Bengt & Lotta reduce the two figures to black silhouettes, leaving it to the observer to decide exactly what is happening in this scene.

Is it joy, high spirits, affection, or simply a powerful lift? It is precisely because the design does not dictate a definitive story that it remains humorous and open to personal interpretation.

28 cm high and surprisingly solid

With a height of 28 cm and a width of 16.5 cm, The Lift is an eye-catching candle holder without taking up much space. The black silhouette looks particularly good on a sideboard, windowsill, or living room table.

The weight of 1,050 g is important information when purchasing online. Due to their minimalist lines, the figures appear visually light, but they are actually a solid metal object.

A candle holder that works even without a candle

The Lift relies heavily on the silhouette of the two figures. This is why the design also works without a candle as a small graphic object in the room.

With a burning candle, another layer is added: the light complements the black figure and changes its effect, especially in the evening hours.

A gift with room for your own story

The Lift is also suitable as a gift for people who share a special connection. Unlike "The Kiss", the message here is not strictly romantic.

This could be a couple, but it could just as easily focus on friendship, togetherness, or simply the joy of an unusual design.

My assessment

I particularly like The Lift because Bengt & Lotta do not finish the story for you. Two figures and a movement are perfectly sufficient.

I would therefore not define who is carrying whom or what relationship the two people have. Every observer can see something different in it. That is exactly what turns a fundamentally simple motif into a candle holder that is definitely a conversation starter.
